Youth Intake/Life Coach - Lindsay Jones
Lindsay Jones serves as a Youth Intake Specialist and Life Coach at H.W.A.M.Why do you feel called to serve at H.W.A.M.?
I was referred to H.W.A.M. by a friend who thought it was right up my alley. I began by applying to volunteer and within one week of volunteering at H.W.A.M., I applied for a Youth Intake position because I enjoyed the program and the staff very much. I feel as if getting referred to H.W.A.M. was much more than a coincidence and I am so thankful of this amazing opportunity.
What is your role at the H.W.A.M.?
My role at H.W.A.M. technically is a Youth Intake Specialist/Life coach but I like to think of it as my social life. I get to spend time with teens talking, joking, and participating in games and various activities. I am a very positive and happy person and feel that those are two qualities that are important for teens these days. Along with supervising the teens on a day to day basis I also get to help them with their homework, daily chores, laundry and prepare dinner together.
What are your favorite things about working at H.W.A.M.?
My favorite things about H.W.A.M. are the teens and the staff. I honestly can say that I enjoy each and every staff member’s individual personalities and have such a good time no matter who I work with. Getting to know the teens on a personal level and see their achievements, smiles and compassion is so rewarding. Some of the other things I love about H.W.A.M. that I take for granted sometimes are things like dinner time. Each night we all sit together, pray and then enjoy dinner and talking about each other’s days. Another thing is seeing how supportive all the teens become with one another after living together.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my free time, I like to have fun. Doesn’t matter with who, I just like to laugh and smile. I love being around friends and family, watch movies, play games and depending on the season, I love swimming, snowboarding and I love taking pictures. I also love to travel.
What is one funny thing about yourself?
A funny thing most people don’t know about me is that I love Hanson. Yup that’s right…as in MmmBop! Most people think it is funny that I am still living out my teen crush, but how could I not when it is Hanson?!
