Youth Intake/Life Coach - Kyle Lamson
Kyle Lamson serves as a Youth Intake Specialist and Life Coach at H.W.A.M.
Why do you feel called to serve at H.W.A.M.?
My desire to work at H.W.A.M. stems back to before the walls were even put up. Having had the privilege of the Founder being my dad, I was able to see firsthand how the difficulties in getting this place going could turn into such an impacting establishment for the homeless youth in Jackson County. I believe that God has placed H.W.A.M. in not only my dad’s heart, but mine as well. Through serving at H.W.A.M., I’m able to give back to a community that has been so great to me over the years.
What is your role at the H.W.A.M.?
I am a Youth Intake Specialist/Lifecoach here at H.W.A.M. My responsibilities primarily focus on mentoring the youth and/or helping meet any needs they may have upon entering the shelter. The great thing about working here is that in a day’s time, we as staff get to do a little bit of everything. Whether it be scheduling activities, transporting youth, helping with homework, or simply being a friend to someone in need.
What are your favorite things about working at H.W.A.M.?
Every day here at HWAM is a new experience. Whether it be new kids coming in, involvement in various activities throughout the community, or visitors volunteering their time to hang out, a refreshing and exciting atmosphere is apparent. On top of working with great kids, the staff here at H.W.A.M. is unlike any other. An almost family-like dynamic exists between staff which makes working at H.W.A.M. a breeze. Getting to work with a group of such caring, enthusiastic individuals makes any day at the shelter a good one.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Apart from growing mustaches, my hobbies primarily consist of anything where I can be active. I enjoy working out, playing with my dog, wakeboarding, snowboarding, hunting, and supporting the Bay Area sports teams. Hanging with family and friends is ok too I guess.
What is one funny thing about yourself?
If I could be any other staff, it would have to be Tyler Dean. The man knows how to move. “And……….boom goes the dynamite!”
